Description
Hungry Again is the 34th solo studio album by American country music icon Dolly Parton, released on August 25, 1998. Produced by Dolly and her cousin Richie Owens, the album is widely considered a "back-to-basics" project. It marked a stylistic shift toward the more traditional country and bluegrass sound that would define her critically acclaimed trilogy in the early 2000s.
Dolly wrote all 12 tracks on the album during a period of spiritual and creative renewal. The cover art features a rustic, stripped-back aesthetic, showing Dolly in overalls on a wooden swing, which reflects the album's grounded and heartfelt themes.
-
Blue Valley Songbird": This track inspired a made-for-TV movie of the same name starring Dolly Parton, which premiered in 1999.
-
"Shine On": Dolly wrote this song as a touching tribute to her close friend and fellow country legend, Tammy Wynette.
-
"Paradise Road": A song exploring themes of resilience and the "gift of imagination" during a humble upbringing.
