Released on February 1, 2019, Half Way There marks Busted’s return to their pop-punk roots, blending nostalgic themes with energetic riffs. Produced by Gil Norton, the album features a mix of reflective storytelling and upbeat anthems, reminiscent of their early sound. The album’s title is a nod to their hit Year 3000, referencing the lyric: “Everybody bought our seventh album, it had outsold Michael Jackson”. It embraces themes of friendship, reflection, and fantasy, with tracks like Shipwrecked in Atlantis continuing the story from their 2004 single Air Hostess.
